Your doctor is giving you good advice. Filling an enlarged prostate in a DRE is a benign finding, though premature for your age. The actual size of your prostate can be more accurately estimated by a simple abdominal ecography but maybe it is not so interesting to have a precise value in your case. Just have the PSA test. Relax, nothing to worry, but keep an eye for just in case. Important and I hope not too inconvenient: refrain to "mastb" for a couple of days before the test, otherwise PSA may be artificially raised. It does not affect DRE, as far as I know. about your old-time habit, I do not think it should affect your prostate in a negative fashion. On the contrary, frequent ejaculations help to prevent PCa according some controversial data. I hope this is real and you will enjoy this advantage when you enter the increased risk age many years from now.
