DaVinci Surgery Mon- Jan 29...And all went well.

My surgeon, the well known urology surgeon- Dr David Lee (at Penn/Pres in Philly ) said all went well-
The day of my release- he told me he feels confident my next PSA test will be non detectable

Saw his Phys asst- past Tuesday (6 Feb)- & she took out the catheter & gave me the path report-

It was a 4-3- GS- There was no seminal vesicle involvement-No lymph node either & surgeo even took a piece of bladder tissue- to check- all negative & all neg margins--

Soo-- I feel really happy & relived--

OK- a non urological problem- (I worry about many things ) The port area around my navel- has been giving off a very small drip of clear fluid (Looks like a tear drop.

The Phys- Asst- said-as long as there is no pus or area does not become red...not to worry- BUT...I do !

I've rinsed it w warm soap & water & put a dab of neosprin on it- & covered it lightly w a sterile gauze & yet..in mornings...it is a bit stained-

Twice this week....I have called up after hrs--Urology on call -- Both guys told me...
"It has not been that much time- post surgery- it might take some time to heal."

OK.....what do I do..? Has ANYONE here experienced this..?- Is only 11 days post surgery really a "Short time"...? -(I tend to be impatient..in all things )-

Anyone have any idea- why this happens..?

Thanks- Hoping to hear from anyone---well---- the surgery went well with good results hear - but this small...."weeping" has me concerned ! Will it eventually....just heal...?

Richard - I had them also they had just guit then I ended up with hernia surgery and then started over where they did the hernia surgery at my belly button. I had total shoulder surgery in Aug and also had some leakage for a while so I believe it's pretty normal so I wouldn't worry about it. Concentrate on walking lots to help with healing and continence control. Wishing you the best in your journey with PCA.

Congratulations on making it to the other side. 11 days is not long. Tiredness can last quite a while, so be prepared for that. Walk, rest, repeat! My drain was on the right side, not by the navel. The longest incision was just above the navel, but belly hair hides it pretty well.

Sounds like things are healing up. Good news on the incontinence as well. You didn't happen to go out to watch the parade on Thursday, did you?

It does take a surprising amount of time for recovery and recuperation. I went back to work on day 20, and I probably should have stayed out longer. Cabin fever, however, took over.
