Curious phone call from radiologist

My DH finished his RT 1/17/18. He was very blessed and had little to no SE. Hopefully that gives hope to other guys out there who are afraid to get RT. My husband almost didn't go for it and luckily for him it ended up being pretty east. The dr. was so pleased with how well he did. We all had a discussion when it was over and he was emphatic that it was absolutely the right decision to do RT and the surgeon was wrong to say my DH should wait until his post RALP psa rose above .2 considering his G8, positive margin and psa not going undetectable. He said to come back in 4 months for a follow up. We asked him if he had an opinion on long my husband should stay on Lupron and while we could tell he had an opinion he deferred to the oncologist.
So today the RT's office called and wants him to schedule a bone scan soon. She said that they would want him to get a PET CT later on. Of course my husband forget to ask any questions. He is not due for a follow up until May. He told her he had just had a lung CT at the request of the oncologist and it was fine. His 2/8 appt with the oncologist was pretty routine other than he is a little anemic. His PSA was <.1, Woohoo!! Of course that is with the Lupron. They are still talking to DH about starting Taxotere. My husband does not want to do it unless it is obvious he needs it. I know they have to tell him about the protocol but it doesn't seem like the benefit is that great and the SE are pretty rough.
So does it seem reasonable to do a bone scan when treatment is over? Same with a Pet CT after a number of months. His bone scan in Aug was clear for any mets. Did he just forget to mention it to us when he met my husband for his last RT appt? Thanks for any input.

It sounds like the MO didn't realize that your husband is still in the middle of his, hopefully, curative therapy. Both the bone scan and PET scan are totally useless. If there were no mets in August, how could there be any mets now while he is on Lupron? And chemo -- really? I think he was looking at the wrong charts.

Thanks for the quick reply. My Husband is going and speak to the PA and clear it up. We were told that there is some new research that is saying that doing a course go Taxotere ,right give some improvement in outcome. The benefit was only a 5% improvement which doesn't seem that great. Even the M0 said it wasn't that great but he thought he should make us aware. I don't know if it is a CYA kind of thing. Most everything I read about Taxotere is that it is a therapy for metastatic PC. My husband is high risk but not metastatic. He has given the cancer a triple threat with surgery, radiation and ADT even though he felt like he was on the bubble after the surgery.
