I also had a small amount of 3+4, <5% of one core. My Uro suggested a genomic test to give more info. My Decipher test was not a favorable as I had hoped but it did tip the scale towards treatment. I had HDR BT in February and all is good, no SEs and my PSA has dropped to 1.3 90 days after treatment.
I believe we have to evaluate the success rate of each treatment (which is about the same), the difficulty of the procedure (not the same) and the post-op recovery period (not the same), and the probably SEs (also not the same). to make a fully informed decision.
I had to battle two misconceptions prior to treatment. One that getting my prostate out would get the cancer out. While this is true for many not for all. I also had some ignorance around the SEs of radiation, i.e., rectal incontinence. I had to study more recent patient experience to be fully informed.
I wish you well in your decision making and the good news is you have time and seem to be on a great path to making a fully informed decision. Denis
