Flomax - Is it difficult to stop it?

I'm on my last week of external beam. Last night was challenging, getting up 1/2 dozen times to urinate, with difficulty and pain. Just happened to have appointment with RO today, and he will start me on flomax. He indicated sometimes there is an issue with getting patients off it. Anyone here have this kind of experience? All comments appreciated. Thanks

I had no real issues going off FlowMax. Maybe a bit more reluctance and slower stream, but things were so messed up that this may have happened anyway. Note, though, that I only took it for about a month - not long term.

One other caution about FlowMax and Rapaflo. When I next saw my ophthalmologist after my RT with FlowMax, I mentioned to the Opthalmo that I had briefly taken FlowMax. He said "Wow! I am SO glad you've mentioned that you took it. If or when we ever need to consider any eye surgery, we NEED to know you've taken either of these drugs. For the rest of your life, if you need eye surgery (think cataracts, etc.), there will be extra precautions we will need to take during the procedure."
He went on to say that they can easily deal with whatever it is, but they need to know in advance, not after the procedure. So, next time you have an eye exam, tell your doc.

Please read the Flomax instructions and potential side effects. I had more issues with the Flomax side effects than the actual LDR procedure. As for going off of Flomax, it was a matter of gradual weaning until it was no longer necessary. I also made a point of doing lots of walking which I sincerely believe helped the weaning process. I had no issues stopping Flomax or Rapaflo. I just stopped cold turkey. What is the issue?

I was on both Flomax and Rapaflo and like some of the other guys stopped cold turkey no problems.

Wow it works great. Took first dose two hours ago and first pain-free urination with good flow in three weeks. Thanks everyone for your comments. Much appreciated.

No problems with me either. I weaned very quick and in retrospect probably did not have to wean.

I went from twice a day to once a day for a week, then every other day for a week then discontinued it. My only concern was thinking I would have problems with urinating if I quit suddenly.

Steve, I just went back and checked my "journey" with LDR posting. As i thought I remembered, I had a little angst at the two month mark. I stopped Flomax but then experienced a little difficulty starting my flow. Being a total wuss at the thought of heading to the ER for someone to catheterize me, I took the pills for another month. At the three month mark I stopped with no issues.
