I've got no personal experience with revision. I've had my AMS 800 for three years now and it's been a mixed success... or a mixed failure, depending on how grumpy I am when you ask me. I had been hoping for dry but, at only three pads a day, it's a big help.
The impression I get is that most guys get five to seven years on a device before revision, usually because erosion has made them leaky, but sometimes because the device has failed. I've seen some studies that found that men who've had radiation tend to do better with a dual-cuff device. I figure I'll get a few more years on my current device then think about, maybe, trading up. It'd be nice to get dry if there is a way.
Since you aren't particularly miserable with your current situation there's no burning need to do anything if you don't want to. On the other hand, you've gotten eight years out of your current device and, if you did want to change it out you're due.
As for your age. I dunno. It depends on how long you think the device will continue to function, I guess. You're younger now than you will be in five years if your device were to fail then.
