Second Biopsy ater SBRT??

My older brother recently had SBRT with Zelefsky in NYC. According to him, their protocol is to do another biopsy two years after being treated. Dr Z also pushed the space oar for his procedure

Does that sound right?

His treatment was easy and virtually symptom free. I can't see why they would add that in. Next biopsy for me will be an an autopsy.....

I've never heard of that. Post treatment PSA is generally considered the marker to show treatment/disease progress.

I suspect someone has some incorrect information here.

a two year biopsy would be consistent with a AS protocol, not a primary treatment one. I wouldn't have a biopsy on a toasted prostate.

No mention of any such thing from my RO, Dr. Meier at Swedish in Seattle. Just PSA 3 month, 6 month, 12 month and then annual if the numbers continue down or flat.

I can't see why a biopsy would be required, unless it is part of a clinical trial. I never had one. SpaceOAR doesn't add much.

As the others mentioned - I've had 3-month interval PSA tests for the first year, then semi-annual after that. No mention of a repeat biopsy.

Thanks for the mid day humor.. don't mean your brother but your autopsy comment.. I almost fell out the chair because that's exactly how I feel about another BX.. haha
