Hello All , 2 1/2 years after my last radiation treatment my PSA is down a little to .83 from .86, Im happy to report . I see my RO , Dr. Hirsch , today for my 6 month check up . Really no side effects , have some urgency and a leak now and then . Might be looking into trimix . Whether its age or radiation or both , dont care . I am very satisfied with my decision to have had Cyberknife SBRT . No regrets .

I do have a question . Is radiation from SBRT still active in my prostate as VA (veterans admin.) just reduced my award from Agent Orange exposure as they said my cancer is inactive. I will ask Dr. Hirsch today, but if you have a psa spike , to me its still there , the cancer . ?

Sounds like you're doing just fine. Did the pills do anything for the ED? Trimix is the next step. RT does do some damage in that area, but age and other health issues do factor in.

As to the last question - the SBRT damages the PC DNA and preventing those cells from dividing. You might have to do a little fighting on that point. Hopefully some of our out VA guys will be along soon with better info for you,

The pills dont work now . At baseline 2-1/2 years ago pills were good enough . I will talk to my uro . Thanks in the shop .

Congratulations on what appears to be successful treatment. TriMix works great, but I developed Peyronies after about a year. Maybe ask your Uro if there’s a way to prevent it from happening to you.

0311 - It is great to "see" you again. You've been a mentor and a trailblazer for me.

I think you're doing great with your PSA. Mine hasn't gone down that much, but I am due for another test in a month or so.

I hear you on the thoughts about trimix. I could be there, soon, too. At baseline, I was in "fair" shape, but over the past year and a half, things have declined noticeably. Not that surprised, as I am now past the 70 limit, but it does have an emotional impact on me.

Hope you said "Hi" to Dr. Hirsch for me. BTW, if you look on her hospital web site, you can see the little TV video I did with her last June. It was on local Channel 9 one Sunday morning; the link is on her web page.

0311: The problem with the VA and the % of Service connected disability rating is that you still have a prostate and some of it could still be viable and thus producing some ( for lack of a better word HEALTHY ) PSA. That is at least the argument the VA will make. The PSA is going to have to rise into the "unhealthy" range or you will have to have a BX showing cancer or some type of scan that shows mets before they will increase. To the VA as of now....You had cancer, it has been cured.

I also had SBRT I am 9 months out. I was wondering what kind of trend post TX did your PSA take? I see you say it is .83 at 2 1/2 years out. I started with a pre tx PSA of 6.5 then 3 month 2.03 6month 2.20 and just last week 9 month 1.03

Roger. I had Cyberknfe the same time as 311. This is the PSA trajectory (with two bounces) as I posted elsewhere in the forum:

high PSA before treatment : 6.09
low point at +10 months : 0.57
bounce 1 at +14 months : 0.91
low point at +21 months : 0.60
bounce 2 at +28 months : 1.01
low point at +32 months : 0.89
