Yes, recently

I had surgery, followed by radiation around 3 years ago. Same thing - they did the scope for a biopsy of the bladder, they said they thought the bleeding was from the radiation, but wanted to rule out a known side effect of radiation treatment - another cancer. The biopsy came back negative for bladder cancer and was only told my bladder was damaged by the radiation.

They did not tell any thing more than above, but the follow up to the biopsy is on Monday. After the - biopsy the Dr did not seem concerned, might learn some more on Monday.

Lots of people say radiation is no big deal - but it is the gift that keeps on giving.

The RT can do that. Some times a guy will have one episode like this and then never again. Good he's getting the doc to look. Hopefully it will be easy to fix.

Thanks for the info...he's just getting ready to go back now so we will know more later today. One thing he is worried about is his flow/incontinence following procedure. He hasn't had problems with this before....I'm worried about another cancer. We shouldn't complain because he's been doing so well the past five years Just another part of this pc stuff.

I just finished RT. At my last weekly meeting with my RO, he mentioned , “you might /see some blood in urine 6 months, or a year from now, or even longer out. Let us know if you do, but it’s usually nothing to worry about” do keep us updated.

I had two brief incidents of that one week apart, two years after my IGRT. Never again, though there's always a "trace" of blood when they do a urinalysis. The initial source of that visible blood never was found, and my uro thinks it's likely from a fragile capillary in what's left of my irradiated prostate.

My uro did a full workup at the time, CT scan with dye and all of that, including a cystoscope. They did incidentally find a renal cyst, which is quite common (like 50% of people over age 50 have them). Mine's a Bozniak 2F, which means an annual follow up to see if it changes much, because that could indicate a malignancy. So far, 3 years later it's grown somewhat but not in a concerning way, apparently. The uro thinks the trace blood is probably coming from that.
