I just interviewed a very smart female radiation oncologist that transferred to the University of Texas Southwestern Hospital in Dallas from the Mayo Clinic. She just said the same thing that you said, that urinary issues are more frequent than sexual side effects. Nonetheless she wanted me to go on 12 months of hormone therapy and I am engaged to be married to a 53-year-old woman. I am a very young 67-year-old and cannot see myself in a happy marriage tired and on the couch. I have scheduled a surgery date on January 15 with the indication from the surgeon that hormone therapy will not be required

Tebozo I have heard good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Hospital in Dallas. A physician friend of mine had his surgery there. His brother is in a clinical trial there for PC too. Both are doing fine. Surgery is often recommended for younger men. However, since you were advised to go on hormone therapy for 12 months with radiation I worry that the oncologists believe there may be floaters outside the prostate gland that surgery may not get. I have been on Lupron for 6 months and still have erections, yet no desire for sex. If needed you can survive 12 months of hormone treatment, and treat sex as your job. I would continue to seek advice about your cancer staging and perhaps request some genetic testing prior to your surgery just to be sure you have made the right decision. Learn everything you can about your surgeons patient outcomes too. Hi Tebozo and welcome. Looks like we have hijacked this thread with responses to you so apologies to the OP. In any case, as others have suggested, if you will post some specifics about your case we will be able to respond better. It's obvious you want to avoid the ADT but there is a real possibility of some serious SE's with your upcoming surgery that might not be so happy for the new marriage either, e.g. a limp willy and diapers. So, if you want some specific advice and support give us more info and we are glad to help.
