PSA Drops From 4.6 to 1.7, Really?

I am 63 years old. My PSA was rising yearly and last year reached 4.8. Biopsy was clear and PSA dropped to 4.6 after 6 months. I then lost 20 pounds and changed my eating habits. My PSA is now 1.7 and % Free is 12L. I expect my Dr will want to retest. Has anyone seen a drop like this? Should I be encouraged or concerned? I meet the Dr next week.

I would often see this phenomenon during episodes of prostatitis. Most times it exhibited no symptoms, but not always. I had the chronic, non-bacterial variety.

Fortunately, that's one thing I'll never have to deal with again.

Put the gun down (Hendrix reference). Seriously yes my PSA has gone up and down. It's a good thing. In my case, it's been called dynamic. As you get more PSA tests, you'll find a level where you live. In my case this year, most likely prostatitis.
