Hello everyone:
My hubby just had his follow up visit with his urologist. Last radiation tx was in April. No more Lupron, last dose was 7-3-18. PSA prior to radiation was 4.0. PSA drawn Thursday and got results back today of 0.53, should we be worried? Have not had a chance to talk to the MD today as it is Saturday after hours. Hubby seems to be feeling better his last Lupron was a 4 month dose. Hope every one is having a good beginning to the New Year. Not sure how this NADIR works.

I believe that after radiation the absolute level of PSA is not as important as its direction. You hope for it to have a generally downward trajectory over time. It's too early for him to be at nadir.

That is a GREAT result considering that hubby still has his prostate, albeit 'toasted'.
Therefore, no worries, but his PSA results may dance around quite a bit in the years to come. That's nerve rattling, but to be expected.

PARTY TIME!!!

Great result. nidar is simply the lowest PSA measured. Currently his nidar is .53. If it goes lower, nidar changes. At this point you're concerned with trends - lower, same are good. Moving upwards bad.

and RT takes a long time - years - to get to nidar. It's a long annoying waiting game.

Thanks all fr the helpful insight. Encouraged by radiologist's statement. "This is a problem you won't ever have to worry about again"
