Nadir Radar

Watching the skies for the unseen,
necks strain watching the ng/ml rise to the zenith.
Sabers drawn, and the battle joined.
Electrons fly at the mass of invaders.

Massacre as they fall.
Radar scans relentlessly.
Nanogram count lowers,
as the bodies are slowly removed from the battle field.

Timeless time and the count goes on,
falling to the land of nadir.
Steady eyes watch,
hand firmly on saber's hilt,
worrying that it may need to rise again.

Excellent,excellent, even eggcellent, scrambled and otherwise. I like it even though I never had radiation or surgery. Just the feeling it evokes is strengthening. And no,not over-punctuated, in my, opinion, no harm no foul, just sayin. !!;:''':-$#@^&*(

A good "mystery" poem, Andrew.

A "mystery," because there will be two audiences who will read and interpret this poem. The first will be those who are like us, who have seen and felt the RT described metaphorically in the poem's words. It will be no mystery to us, as we will see and feel immediately the meaning of the words, having been on that RT table.

Then there will be the other audience, those who have never been under the RT machine, for whom the lines of the poem will present a mystery, a challenge to be solved.

One audience in full understanding, the other struggling to do so.

The cleverly worded title of the poem is a hint. The phrases "ng/ml rise" and the "electrons fly" in the poem even more so.

But for those who do come to understand what the poem is actually saying, then the poem has been a success, because it has brought to them some appreciation of what poetic words can say about that "battle field" we once faced on the RT table.

Good job.
