Just got my bx path report back from JH (2nd opinion) and added some percentages to my signature. Still biding my time until my surgery consult on 7/18 and the scheduling of a mpMRI (hopefully). All in all, nothing new to report. Happy 4th to all of you.

I don't suppose the 70% core was the one downgraded by Epstein? If so, I was thinking it could make you a better candidate for AS.

So I tried to update my sig but apparently it didn’t save.... Yes, JH graded my 3 cores at 30, 20 and 30. Thanks for the reply.

Beaver duck, I have been following the thread, but, while I have strong opinions, I feel hesitant to try to make suggestions to a man 30 years younger.

That said, while there are great results being reported with SBRT and the newest HDR brachytherapy, perhaps you could check into minimal intervention therapies such as the TUSLA-PRO clinical trials. I have heard that they may get general FDA approval this year. If a treatment like TULSA-PRO, HIFU, or FLA does not work, then all other treatments are still available.

Dr. Epstein has been reading my biopsy slides since 2009. If he says that you have just the three cores, then you have plenty of time and plenty of options.

I was also a G7 -- 3+4 with a PSA of 6.8, and all twelve of my cores were positive and a couple at 70%. I did not have surgery and I can have sex any time but I do take Cialis daily. I have also never once been incontinent and I had very extensive non-surgical treatment.


I was told I may need to use Cialis after. BUT, when doc got in there and could see I was way worse that anticipated. The cancerous material is sticky and will stick to the RARP tools. My doc had enough experience to know that. He just kept removing till clear. I am alive and enjoying hunting birds with my son and grandson. Implant is somewhat of an equalizer.

BD - Keep in mind that Epstein’s favorable opinion is based on the biopsy info provided to his group. So if the biopsy missed something, that is a separate issue and where the MRI and other AS protocol items come into play. Everyone here knows more about this than me but thought I would state the obvious so you take the good news in stride and continue on with your investigation until you are satisfied. Party on Garth.
