Still bleeding

Hello again everyone,

I posted here about a year ago when I had my first prostate biopsy. I made it though the biopsy ok but honestly it was not fun and fortunately I had minimal side effects from the procedure. I was graded at gleason six and was told active surveillance was best for me.

Now a year later I was scheduled for my second biopsy to see what if anything had changed. This biopsy was much worse pain wise. I felt the dr did not numb me enough and the procedure was painful for two days afterward.

My big question and problem is it has been three days and I am still bleeding when urinating. The bleeding varies each time I urinate. Sometimes the urine is clearly red with blood. Two hours later it will be dark brown blood. Four hours later its back to red again. I had the biopsy on Friday at one pm. It is now Monday night at eleven pm and I am still bleeding. When I researched how long bleeding should last I get answers from a few days to three weeks. I have no rectal bleeding. I had the trans rectal procedure using a gun and they took twelve core samples again this time. I have no fever nor do I feel sick. I am just bleeding. How long should I wait to call my dr?

I would appreciate any answers to the length of time I should be bleeding. Is there anything I can do myself to stop the bleeding? I have been quite sedentary not straining or doing much in hopes the bleeding would stop.

OF, I recall that I bled for only 2 days or so on the first biopsy. The second one caused me to have blood at the beginning and end of my stream for about a week or ten days, everyone is different. But I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

No reason for pain during procedure. Require to be "out" for the procedure. If they refuse, get another Dr. My 2 cents.

I had some blood for a few days, then like 10 days later I had some bleeding, Nothing after that... Good Luck

This was my second biopsy and I believe my last, at lest from my perspective. I don't know how many are required but I cant see me doing this a third time. I did a bit of research on biopsies and it seems the more you do the more problems you have that are urology related.

I did not ask my dr but this can not possibly be a yearly thing to do to track my cancer progress. It is Wednesday morning and I am still seeing blood everyday. It does appear to be better than yesterday so far. I am being as sedate as possible not doing much. I walk everyday and giving that up is killing me as I do enjoy my walks. I also cannot take my headache meds as they thin my blood which makes bleeding worse.

Thank you all for the replies. I am now waiting for the results of the biopsy and wondering what is next.
