Anybody retry hormonals after chemo reset?

I have read stories about guys who had failed on second line hormonals, then did chemo, and then went back onto hormonals and found a renewed potency to the Xtandi or Zytiga. I am going to have my last Taxotere infusion next week (hurray!!!!) and am not sure how we will proceed after that. I did great on both hormonals before they quit working, with my PSA going down from the hundreds to below 1.0. Sadly, chemo did not do much for me, other than inundate me with side effects. I would love it if the hormonals would be effective again, and I understand there is at least a chance they may work again. Even if insurance won't cover it, I would love to get that PSA back down from the current level of 700 or so and still growing. (I think I may even have close to a month of meds left over, so it won't cost $10K to try).

Does anybody here have experience with re-trying hormonals like this? Even second hand stories would be appreciated.

Zytiga and Abiraterone were approved first to be used after chemo for CRPC patients. They showed a benefit in this situation. So you should try these drugs after your chemo.

But do not forget to try to get into the VISION trial after your chemo.

Well, for the record, the Xtandi experiment failed. My PSA continued growing rapidly when I restarted on Xtandi for a week after failing chemo. Up to 908 now from 750ish. It looks like Jevtana for me from here. Sigh.

I talked with the RO today and was told that yes, I would have been a great candidate for the VISION trial, but they were indeed closed as of Tuesday. They worked the phones in front of me trying to fenagle a way into the trial for me through the regular trial team, and through the company who makes the drug. I have not totally given up, but it would take a great stroke of luck to get me in now. They sure are optimistic about this drug. Very positive about Lutetium. Much less anxious to start me on RA-223. Maybe down the road, after this next round of chemo treatment, I will be able to pick up a different trial at that point.
