psa rising 5.4 prescribed Bicalutamide and Finasteride

does anyone have any advice. My psa is slowly rising 5.4. my testosterone is very low 117. will this chemo help? will I have no strength and no quality of life left? I have serious comorbidities, large brain tumor frontal lobe Meningioma, neck c3/c4 jabbing the spinal column, sugar diab, and blocked arteries. My cardi doc has nixed surgeries. He has not advised about chemo yet. I read where this chemo is for metastatic only? I do not have mets.There are millions taking this drug?????

Sorry to hear about all your (serious!) medical problems. Now with respect to prostate cancer, most of us do not (!) consider bicalutamide (Casodex) as chemo.
This drug is often used prior to Lupron to prevent a possible testosterone flare (see my history down below).
Finally, it's my understanding that bicalutamide is usually well tolerated.
Others may chime in with more info.
PS: Because surgery is ill advised for you, it appears to me that some sort of radiation therapy may be in your future. In that context, it appears that the finasteride prescription is to reduce the size of your prostate prior to such radiation therapy.

If you read my history you will find casadex lupron 2 years, proton radiation 4 weeks, conformal 3d radiation 5 weeks, and after 6.5 years now biochemical failure. after pet scan, cancer is still in the prostate and growing. with heart disease continuing lupron is not an option. UAMS is proposing Bicalutamide and Finasteride. This combo tends to work for a max of 2 years. It is used for metastatic PC. I do not have mets at this time. my theory is watchful waiting until mets occur and then advance to treatment buying maybe 2 more years? With my lack of control on sugar diab it is also contradicted. soon I will NOT be able to see and NOT be able to go to any doctor. it is what it is.

MDA Anderson is an awsome cancer treatment center. the Genitourinary center is world reknown. The pet scan indicated no mets. But it did show a very large brain tumor which kinda limits what I can do . They wanted a pelvic mri using a recto coil. unfortunately I was gushing blood in the procedure and had to abort as bp went to 200. so I am incomplete and they have not diagnosed and recommended. I may not return because the 7 hour drive is much to brutal.I am relying on UAMS at this time.

MDA is great, just too far. as the aging process takes over with my bad neck and tumor UAMS is focusing on my neck. I think the casadex/finisteride should be a last resort for a mets situation. stats show it only working for 2 years, so being frugal is warrented. The docs also indicate it is for mets only. I have so many symptoms that it is hard to say what comes from where? I found all of UAMS talks to each other, thats wonderful. that does not work here at collom and carney.
