Brother may have joined the club

I have an older brother--he will be 64 next month. His wife called my wife yesterday--a bit scared I suspect--and told her that he was scheduled to see a Urologist soon because he has had two successive PSA rises. So, it is highly possible that he will become part of the fraternity before much more time passes.

I will pass on more info as I know more. I will absolutely encourage him to do the research that he will need to do if and when. An interesting factoid: He was a vegetarian for many years starting when he was in high school, and 10 or so years ago had to add fish to his diet because he became hypoglycemic.

Hal, that would really suck, as Tud said, i hope its just a false alarm, but if it isn't he will have the benefit of you guiding him. Man, you've had a tough year or two. i really hope it turns out to be nothing

Sorry to hear that, hope it works out in his favor. Could be that family history is more important than diet in this case? Wish I had a brother with all the knowledge you now have.

As others have said Halbert...your brother is fortunate to have you as a source of knowledge...now and if he does have Pca...as you know...most men his age will have some pca roaming...as to what to do about it...well...

Update: He is scheduled for Biopsy on April 3. His PSA is 4.7, so marginally high for his age (64). We will see what happens next.

Hi Halbert, sorry to see that post. As others have said, he is fortunate to have you to guide him on this possible journey.
His age, numbers and rise are very similar to mine. I will be thinking of him and watching for future posts.

He had his biopsy yesterday (Friday), they did it under general anesthesia. Today, he says he is doing ok. He said that he will be having a telehealth consult when his results come back.

In other news--I have a cousin, just short of 70, who had a fatal heart attack last wednesday. Sigh.

Just got an email from my brother, his 12 cores were all negative. YAY!
