Glad to hear from you, but not about the potential of another problem for Dan. And since I had a nice meeting and several phone calls with you and Dan, I certainly have no ill feelings, only of friendship and support.

Since he had radiation as initial treatment the PSA is still in an acceptable level, but any increase needs to be investigated. I assume he has been off the ADT for at least a year now. Obviously before any treatment can begin it must be determined exactly what the lesions are. Most likely there will be additional scans that would be more sensitive than the ultrasound. Which doctor is managing the PCa? Does he have a medical oncologist?

Sounds like he is in good hands. The scans will tell a lot and may even require biopsies. Whether this is a spread of PCa or something else, you certainly need to know to determine what to do. Most often PCa spread is to bones and lymph nodes and accompanied with a higher PSA than Danny is expressing. Visceral spread happens, but is much less prevalent. Since we don’t yet know anything, best thing is to relax and enjoy the evening knowing that the scans tomorrow will lead to better information.

A biopsy will be a key item to see if the lesions are related to PCa or benign or malignant lesions of a different origin. Scans will go a long way toward defining the issue but the lesion pathology is the only way to determine the details if it is cancer.
