PSA 3 weeks after radiation

I have been on lupron 5 months and finished 45 IMRT three weeks ago. My urologist had me do a PSA test just three weeks after radiation because it was near 30 at my diagnosis of gleason 8. My results were .015. Is that pretty much to be expected?

Yes that is to be expected from the Lupron, but not the radiation. It takes quite a while for the radiation effect to show up on PSA and most men take 3-5 years to get to the low point (nadir).

However the Lupron drops the PSA in a matter of a few weeks and will keep it down so long as you are on it unless you become refractory. See my signature. I went from 59 to undetectable in less than 90 days.

You won’t know how the radiation is working until you have been off Lupron for a good six months or more. What is your plan for Lupron. Given your very high risk dx (PSA 30 and G8) I would expect 12-18 months.

How are the radiation side effects? Mine were mild and all went away within about 2 weeks of the final fraction. The ADT side effects will stick around until you are off the drugs.
