A researcher from Johns Hopkins believes we are closer to herd immunity than we think.

The author of this oped is Dr. Makary who is a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Fauci and others sounded a note of caution this morning because Makary's numbers are made up, logically, of those vaccinated plus those who had Covid, However, for the latter group, it is not known how long their immunity will last -- some have gotten infected a second time. In any case, vaccine production is up and availability seems to be improving.
Fauci stressed the importance of developing a universal coronavirus vaccine. Otherwise, we may need seasonal or repeat Covid shots for Covid-19 variants, and we will still have the sword of the next coronavirus epidemic or pandemic over our heads.
On an upbeat note, I've heard that no one has died from a Covid vaccine and no one vaccinated has died as a direct result of Covid. I hope that is and remains true.
