I do have a question, Where do you find information on a surgeons performance regarding robot surgery?
Not much information available that I know how to find.

It is difficult to find good data on anything in the medical field. I tried and all I could find was limited or outdated information. You can find things like medical license suspensions or sanctions but that never seems to apply to any doctors I have used. You can try this link for ideas but it is limited and old.

Surgeons who do a lot of prostate surgeries can tell you how many they have performed and give you a general idea of their success rate for continence and ED. The rest is pretty hard to get as a good answer on as it depends on the situation when they get in there and remove it. At some point, you have to trust what the doctor tells you or not trust it. Just ask a lot of questions and you will get a good idea if the doctor seems to have the answers that you need. If not, try another urologist.

So they won’t even let you speak with a radiation oncologist, but force you to surgery with their approved surgeon. Talk about medical malfeasance.

Terry, the situation is not the insurance company, it is the Kaiser Permanente HMO model of managing and owning the health care providers in a closed network. They only allow you out of their provider network when they don’t have the specialist or treatment you need. Across the nation they affiliate with Franklin Healthcare, a company that has clinics, rehabilitation hospitals, nursing homes and even manages prison healthcare in many areas.

In Denver, the surgeon Avalanche mentioned, Dr. Kenneth Yun, is listed as a general and urological surgeon at Permanente Medical Group at the Franklin Medical Offices. He is a 2004 graduate of the St. Louis University School of Medicine. It looks like he is board certified.

We have had two other members that had significantly advanced PCa that faced numerous limitations from Kaiser Permanente, one in Washington state and the other here in Atlanta. They both had significant battles to get to specialists and treatment centers and treatments not offered by KP.
