Boy, I hate to hear this, Covid after vaccination

Just heard from a friend, who has a variety of comorbidities (diabetes among others), a 73 year old retired RN, fully vaccinated, and she has come down with Covid. She has been treated with Monoclonal Antibodies. I pray that it works for her.

BB, what I've read is that while it is possible for someone who is fully vaxxed to catch it, particularly the Delta variant, it is extremely rare--virtually non-existent--for someone who is vaxxed to die from it.

Over and over there are statements from medical people in the Delta hotspots: "one thing ALL of the really sick people, and all the deceased have in common is simple; they aren't vaccinated"

Thanks, Halbert! I appreciate that info! And, indeed, she has the delta variant. I have also heard that some doctor is giving her brother(they live on the same farm, a truly beautiful place) Ivermectine prophetically. But not her, her treatment is only, so far, monoclonal antibodies. Hopefully, that will be all she needs.

It has been reported here in AZ that 99% of those dying from COVID-19 have not been vaccinated.

Agree with Tim. I’ll leave it at that, because I shouldn’t be starting trouble LOL.

This is anecdotal, but I’m reading of more cases the last few weeks, of fully vaxed people testing positive. The good news is most of them are mild cases, in fact since I think the beginning of the year, 99.2% of deaths have been in unvaccinated, .8% in vaxed.

The bad news is that even a mild case, can turn into Long Covid.

Not terribly relevant to BB’s worry for his friend, but before we throw everyone who chooses not to get a Pfizer/Moderna/JJ/Astra vaccine under the bus remember that if you got the “natural” vaccination that counts too. Millions were infected, and most probably didnt even know, before there was a vaccine.

our last president and his wife got the virus. both were later vaccinated.

A previous symptomatic infection provides immunity that is roughly comparable to the mRNA vaccines and, probably, a bit better than the J&J vaccine. None of them is 100%, so for any sufficiently large group of vaccinated individuals you can expect to see a few breakthrough infections, some of them serious enough to cause flu-like symptoms. Anecdotal accounts of full-vaccinated people who catch the virus don't mean the vaccines aren't working (or that reinfection after a previous infection is common.)
Fortunately, Tudpock's point, that disease severe enough for hospitalization or death in such cases is very rare.

So, 988 'Covid' deaths among the 160 million fully vaccinated. That's 0.0006 percent.

Hi Ken, just be aware of the FDA's warnings concerning ivermectin, specifically dosages and sources.

yes of course, but let's be truthful, that's not what we are talking about here. the same people have been trying to defy science and the doctors since the very beginning with quack remedies and premature conclusions -- i.e., "sweden got it right"

the CDC says get vaccinated. PERIOD. the people who are dying from covid now are overwhelmingly not vaccinated! listen to the CDC, not politicians and anti-vaxers

I saw this thread - wanted to post about ivermectin.

My Lyme doc gave me a prescription for Ivermectin - he is an Infectious Disease doc.
I am to take it prophylactically if I am exposed to a known case of covid.

If I get covid - I am to take it.

I got it from a pharmacy - like I get all my prescriptions filled.

The reason my ID Doc is “wary” about the vax - is because of no longitudinal studies to show safety.
Only time will tell.

My reason for delaying is after many years of being very sick with Lyme disease - I am scared to take a vax that may upset my immune system.
I am finally able to have a “normal” life after over 6 years of illness… and not sure I have it in me to go through it all again.

I am getting ready to get vaxed today.
If I don’t I will be one of a few workers who will have to continue to wear a mask and face being stigmatized somewhat. I have gone back and forth with my decision and have decided to get ‘er done today.

Am I worried? Yes, somewhat.
Several people in the Lyme forum have had the vax and they are fine - no Lyme relapse - so that helps.

God bless you, Girlie, and may your vax cause you no problems as well as boosting your odds against Covid in addition to the Ivermectin which you are already taking. I'm curious: will you continue taking the Ivermectin after you get vaxed? But I can certainly understand why you would decide to get vaxed even though your doc is wary and already has you on a drug to boost your odds.

I had 2 doses of vax (which is sort of surprising that I did so considering the way I think about these things, I ain't normal ;) ). But if my wife was doing so, and she was, I was going with her. Admittedly, I megadosed vitamin C, including an expensive liposomal form, a couple of days before and after(call me crazy, but I am what I am). I do not know if that actually helped, but I do know that I had zero side effects for 1st and 2nd shot, at least that I could tell. My wife did OK, except for a very sore arm and feeling kind of crappy for a couple of days. So I'm hoping you do just as well as I did, and then you won't have to worry about being the only one with a mask and all of that sort of thing. Let us know how you do, I bet you do great!

Tim, is that a typo? 988 deaths since July 6th among those "who were vaccinated"? Or among those who were NOT vaccinated?
