4 years of successful prostate cancer surgery no sign of cancer since then and I am glad but still can’t help get depressed about leakage. I have been incontinent and had ed since the surgery. Since I don’t have a partner ed not a problem. But incontinence getting me down Usually wet 2 pads a day. Not horrible but some days worse than others and I am very self conscious and hesitate to go out at all. I know there are surgical options but I’m worried of having another surgery. Any input and help greatly appreciated

Ron,

There are two options out there that I know of, and both involve additional surgery. You can have an AUS (Artificial Urinary Sphincter) put it, or you can have a sling put in. Please talk to a Urologist about these options. There are men on this forum who have had both of them done with success.

I understand, 8 years for me.
Besides the two options Halbert mentioned, they do have incontinence meds.
I'm taking oxybutynin XL for stress incontinence.

I might add that I considered a sling but because I'd had radiation to the prostate bed, the doc said probably not a good idea.

Know the feeling.... I went for the AMS 800 AUS and it returned my quality of life... I still wear a pad (actually a pouch) to catch an occasional drip, but a pad will usually last for 2 or 3 days and I change just for freshness.

I also had SRT to the prostate bed and the AMS 800 was still a viable option for me. I don't even think about leakage anymore. smile

Have you gone for the biofeedback bladder therapy? Really helped me with cutting down the incontinence to minimal leakage and only in stress situations, coughing, sneezing, bending.

I’m 6.5 months post RALP, and a few months ago my PT used ultrasound to help me find the right muscles to fire, which really helped me out. I’m almost dry and think I will be within a month. I know how discouraging this issue can be.
