Scabs and blood post SBRT

I've been posting under "Start SBRT 21st" but was wondering about a certain side effect.
Things are coming along well and symptoms are all getting better however, I have begun to urinate blood and what seems to be scabs.
I'm about 7 weeks post SBRT.
My guess is that this is normal but as usual I'd like to hear from others who may have had this happen. I see my RO in January but can message him on the patient portal.
Just seems strange to start seeing scabs this late after treatment but I guess it makes sense because healing is a process. Scabs have to form before they are expelled??

Thank you. I've been on Flomax for years also had SpaceOAR . I still got the runs but only lasted about a week.
They are not clots. I peed into a bottle and fished one out. It was spongy and fairly solid plus it looked like a scab.
My guess is that it's scabs from the bladder or urethra that may have suffered some radiation damage. I've googled and it appears later scab voiding is possible weeks after.
My urine flow is okay but not as good as after the Greenlight laser procedure.
I'll let my RO know.
Still have urgency and that stinks because I feel stuck close to home or restrooms.

The Space OAR only protects the rectum. I have seen pictures of mine between the prostate and the rectum. My radiologist says that the water ingested before treatment helps to protect the bladder somewhat.

I never had any "visible" urinary issues after SBRT -- although I did have some burning, urgency, hesitancy and slow flow for a while afterward. I did, however, have (very) visible rectal/digestive issues as late as 5 years out from final treatment. (Think "slasher movie.") A brief outpatient procedure by my gastro (argon laser via sigmoidoscopy) took care of that. If the problem recurs, we will treat again.

As to when I will be "released" from my RO's care, that comes up in about May, or 5 1/2 years out. We have been monitoring PSA, along with periodic DRE's, first at 3-month intervals (for about 3 years) and now at 6-month intervals. At the 5 years after final treatment point (whichever RO appointment is after that), if all remains stable, she will officially bow out of my treatment and leave me in the care of my uro. He will see me every 6 months to monitor both my PSA/DRE and my TRT. Absent the TRT, it would probably be just annual visits at that point.

You've got all the tough stuff behind you now. Just stay the course and you will do fine. Congratulations on getting this far.

My RO told me that we would check PSA's every six months for six years, assuming they continue on the current trend. The ultimate goal is to get to 0.50. If all goes well, then I would just get an annual PSA from my primary doctor and I wouldn't have appointments with the RO unless my condition changed. I also see my Uro once annually to maintain a check on my urinary functions.

I thought the SpaceOAR was primarily used to protect the rectum.

You mentioned "proton" radiation. My SBRT treatment was done with a Cyberknife machine, which is a linear accelerator and emits photon type radiation. There are proton based machines that are a newer technology and not as frequently used yet. I think the advantage of a proton based machine is that it can better control the depth of the radiation which can be beneficial to surrounding tissue and organs. Also, some insurance companies may consider proton radiation treatment experimental, and not provide coverage for it.
