The ACA “Obama Care” individual health insurance open enrollment period runs from November through January 15, 2022. I have yet to see any Public Service Announcements or advertising regarding the enrollment period. Quite surprising to me as it seems that Medicare Advantage advertising has crowded out any mention of the ACA. With the issues of Covid continuing I would have expected to see and hear more advertising regarding the ACA.
For people that need individual coverage, there is less than a month to sign up. For those on individual plans there is less than one month to re-evaluate their choices and make any changes. A great start is at www.healthcare.gov. That is the site for ACA details and guidance. Plus there are numerous websites that provide the commercial individual plans that qualify for the ACA. And most all professional health insurance agents can assist. All plans cost the same whether an insurance agent is consulted so there is no additional cost using an agent.
On the forum there are people using individual plans that need to re-evaluate their choices going forward based on expected treatments in 2022. And for all of us we usually know people that use individual plans and we could do them a good deed by reminding them of the enrollment period. We all know and engage sole proprietors of small businesses and independent contractors that rely on individual health insurance. Of course, this does not apply to people on Medicare, Medicaid or an employer sponsored plan.
