August my Psa was 2.6 and j was refered fk urology. I fell on bike strattle bar few days prior to second psa. I run and (used to bike) a ton.
October comes and i take psa after falling on bar and a weekend of sex. Number had jumped to 7.9.
Biopsy 5 days later was benign but mikd chronic inflammation on right side. Right side was swollen. I was elated it was benign.
Its January now. I am slated for follow up at virginia urology in VB in a few days. Fear has never gripped me in such a way. I am 57 new married and recently retired from navy after 30. I am praying this goes away. Has anyone seen something such as this turn out well.

I'll be the first to welcome you to the forum Bosnt. Others that may have had similar situations will be along to discuss your situation and offer you advice. Unfortunately, my situation was quite different from yours so not much to say on your question. However, one thing that stuck with me when I first found this forum was guys saying "Don't worry until you've got something to worry about". Chances are probably better that you are just fine and the follow up urology appointment can confirm that. If it ends up that you actually do have something going on, you're going to find this forum and the people here extremely helpful in advice and experience to offer.

Easier said than done, but take a deep breath and find out what's going on for certain.

that fast rise in PSA sounds like a possible infection. the good news is your PSA is still low. stay on it man! i know it's scary shiit.....

A few things....

Infections can cause wild swings in PSA, both up and down.
PC generally leads to slow steady rises in PSA over a long (years) period of time.
Sexual release (of any kind) less that 48 hours before a PSA draw can cause a spike in PSA.

So, get your infection cleaned up (it may take several rounds of antibiotics), then do your best to NOT have a sexual release less than 48 hours before the blood draw, THEN see what your PSA is doing.

I have been a patient at Urology of Virginia for about thirty years. I am now sixty three but have had prostatitis many times over the years. Yeah, I know, just lucky I guess!! I have seen many drs come and go over the years. Some retired, some relocated and so on. All in all this is a good practice. They are large with many drs and PAs and sometimes the wait for appointment time can be lengthy. Up to six weeks depending on why you need to be seen. I am assuming you are seeing the same group I am just turning the wording in the name around.

I am sorry ocean fisher. I was too quick to be judge-mental. This is a really scary disease and the treatment of it is also really scary too. I do not want nor want anyone to have to make the choices that come with it. I am sure they do the best they can with what they have. I really am sorry if i offended you in any way.

Bosnt. from my limited knowledge, it seems to me that falling on that bike straddle could cause some injury to the prostate if you hit it right, which would likely result in a material but temporary jump in PSA. I'm sure your Doc will do another PSA test at your follow up and perhaps, it would give you some piece or mind, in the hoped or event that it comes in lower. Good luck.

I can see no reason you should be sorry and you have not offended me at all. I was just remarking we both must live in the Tidewater area and see the same group of drs. As all the others have said and I also would say, I hope your PSA is just the result of your fall.

I hope you do not have to make the choices those of us who have been diagnosed with cancer have had to make. PCa is the gift that keeps on giving in my opinion.
