Crazy how fast things change.

The same day we saw Dr. Kwon we saw Jeff’s radiation oncologist that afternoon. As I wasn’t anticipating much of an update from that appointment, I posted an update prematurely.

In short, Jeff’s radiation oncologist felt radium 223 was the best next treatment. Radium 223 targets the bones and that’s where the cancer progression is as well as his pain.

She said she would contact Jeff’s oncologist as well as Dr. Kwon to discuss.

The following day Kwon’s office called us back.

Guess what?! Guess what?!

Evidently LU-177 is on the very cusp of being approved.

Dr. Kwon is bringing Jeff back for a PSMA scan to see if he qualifies for this promising treatment.

In the meantime, Jeff will start a PARP inhibitor, I believe Lynparza/Olaparib.

We are guardedly hopeful!

Yep Stephanie,

I believe LU-177 will be part of the next wave of PCa management. I think it holds much promise.

MO told us last week that they suspect July for the launch for Lu 177. Who knows? Hopefully sooner than later. Lynparza is bringing down the PSA for my husband. It started at 248 and it's in the 20's now. We are thankful. Good luck to you and yours.

Great news for you Mrs BD, and Stephanie, my mom when she was fighting cancer many years ago, always said to us, where there's life there's hope.
I'm glad about the news of LU-177 , it further keeps hope alive. Also not much of a praying type, but sure am praying on this one.

If your path takes you to LU-177, I can only hope Jeff has the same success I’ve had with the treatments. I finished #6 of 6 yesterday at UCLA and my PSA went from 65 to 1.87. Labs next week should show additional reduction. I have a post on LU-177 which has all my details. Saying prayers that it gets approved soon so that you and others can get access to this amazing treatment.

There are many PSMA directed clinical trials; it might be worth it to see if your husband qualifies for one of them.

My Medical Oncologist told me yesterday LU-177 is becoming more promising than initially thought for targeting for bone mets.
This site search box probably has some info on clinical studies

Steve, glad it has worked for you, and I'm guessing as it sounds like it is not yet approved for PCa that you were maybe in a trial? I remember LU-177 from my brush with NET four years ago.

I got into a small compassionate use program at UCLA. Not a trial but a CU program the Novartis did at UCLA. I’m blessed for sure.
