Side effects after stopping ADT

This question is well in advance of my situation, but it has been on my mind for several weeks now. We are taking our grandkids and family to Disney World and a cruise to the Bahamas next summer. I will be stopping ADT two weeks before we leave. Just curious if there are any SEs that happen after stopping that might effect all the walking that will be involved or stomach issues. Like I said, this is a long way off, but I couldn’t find a discussion on this topic. Since I am on a daily pill, I will be fully dosed within two weeks of the trip, as apposed to those on the shots that are wearing off when they stop. Thanks a bunch, and as always my best to all.

Hi Jack64,

I hope you are doing well and tolerating your current course on ADT. For me, I was on Lupron for 6 months and received two injections for 3-months each. Not sure what you're currently experiencing as far a side effects. For me, it was fatigue in the evening that often resulted in me going to bed early. I also had hot flashes throughout the day and night.

When I went off the ADT, the side effects gradually reversed in a way where I only began to realize it about 2 to 3 months later. At that point, I wasn't noticeably fatigued anymore and the flashes were minimal to non-existent. I would say that the reversal was not noticeable for the first month or so at least, if that helps.

Jack,
I believe the pills clear the system much more rapidly than the shots. When the Orgovyx is gone, then it will depend on how soon your body replenishes the Testosterone. That part of the equation varies greatly between men.

Jack i was on lupron, so a bit different. But i dont recall having any side effects that were different than thos i had on Lupron, when i stopped. My T recovered very gradually and slowly though.

Logically thinking i think any changes you might see, if any, would be more positive than negative changes
