Dx 6 years ago Age 64 [BRCA2+] bone metastatic PC. Never thought I’d see this day. Had a really great party.
Shortly after my Dx I made this “Save the Date” Card for my 75th B Day. That was 100% a joke. That would require 11 years survival. Seriously, it really was A JOKE
Is it too much to ask for 11 years survival w/ advanced stage IV w/ distant bone Mets? That, too, was a joke, but one Dr. emphatically said “NO!”
Time will tell. I’m still in pretty good shape after six years. I’m not giving odds yet on my making it to 75. The important thing is it’s not a joke any more.
To my Fellows: Fight hard as best you can [no one can do everything—do what you can with diet, exercise and just taking care of yourself].
Do a bit of reading so that you understand Treatment options that are available.
Lastly, really try to keep a positive attitude. You’re ALIVE! Look at the sky, smell the air, look around. What’s that worth?
Think about what you have, not what you have lost.
Respectfully, your Colleague
