Looking for doctors in southern California, especially at Kaiser

In the back of "Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers", Dr. Scholz lists several prostate oncologists in SoCal. The list is from several years ago but in addition to Dr. Scholz himself he lists:

I know several of our members have used Dr. Scholz or Dr. Lam with great success.

I can put in a strong endorsement for Dr Lam of Prostate Oncology Specialists in Marina del Rey, but he's not a Kaiser doctor. Is the Kaiser insurance an Advantage plan? If so, I'm thinking it likely means paying most or all out of pocket, although depending on your situation it could be worth it for a one-time consult.

Melanie, if he is in a Kaiser Advantage plan then it is not a Medicare issue as he would have opted out of traditional Medicare and is solely provided for by Kaiser. He will likely be restricted within the Kaiser network unless he wants to step outside for a consultation on a self paying basis. First step with Kaiser is to request a consultation with a medical oncologist in their network. Also inquire about out of network costs for him to see a medical oncologist that is outside their network.
