rectal pain after radiation

7 weeks after rectal radiation for small legion on rectal surface, I am still experiencing substantial pain and bowl discomfort. Radiation oncologist said it would get better and suggested tylenol !! Skeptical about that.

Nicholas, welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your issue, I dont have any experience or knowledge so i dont have an opinion. Sometimes just gotta trust your doc, and hope that he is right.

Hi Nicholas, Sorry to hear of your issues. Could you give us some details of your diagnosis and treatment history? I assume your radiation was to treat prostate cancer?

hello and thanks, small rectal legion diagnosed 9/29/22. mri indicated a couple lymph nodes but no invasion of system. started radiation and pills on 11/28/22 Completed on 01/6/23. Now on infusion and pills with no scan.

Painful bowl issues with hemoroids 6 weeks after radiation. I think I need to see my primary Doc?

Curious if you used SpaceOar to protect the rectum? I did and thus far I do not think its affected,
My bladder and urethral strictures are another story.

There is a product called Anurex that helped me cope. It is a plastic plug that you keep in the freezer. Put on some lubricant and slide in. The coldness help quite down the area.

In my case it was very helpful treating radiation burn and an anal fissurebthat healed very very slowly.
