Such a powerful post, Steve55777 ... powerful points & POSITIVITY!
You're two years farther down the road than you were. That's worth more than any lottery prize ...
I often reflect back to when my grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the early 1970s. We had one last Christmas with him, and he was gone before spring ...
There were no viable treatment then. There were no trips to Mayo Clinic for scans ... no LUPRON ... no radiation ... no TAXOTERE chemotherapy ... no XTANDI ... no ZYTIGA ... no PLUVICTO ...
Ironically, when I was first diagnosed back in 2013, I read an initial study article about Dr. Scott Tagawa, and clinical trials on a potentially new cancer-fighting agent.
Today - that is PLUVICTO - and it's helping you, my compadre.
I think one thing I have learned ~ do no underestimate the power of new treatments, if you are newly diagnosed.
I was my oncologist's youngest prostate cancer patient when I was diagnosed. I may now be one of his longest-surviving patients, ten years later.
I had just attended my high school class reunion when I was first diagnosed. Imagine how I recently felt ~ ten years later ~ riding on an alumni float, together with my classmates, in my hometown's July 4th parade this summer ~ part of another class reunion.
No one had a better July 4th weekend than I did!
Steve55777 --- with this new treatment, you have, in essence, "kicked the can" down the road a couple more years. Treatments are still ongoing. You can set your sights on yet another New Year's Day, to be sure!
Early in my diagnosis, I read a profoundly inspiring article about the concept of "hitchhiking" ~ pursuing active treatments, then jumping on NEWER treatments, as they become available in the near future.
It's a viable plan --- I have been riding along for over 8 years, with ZYTIGA, and now there's more treatments available since I began taking that medication.
Looking back, I was my oncologist's first patient to start ZYTIGA. What a day of hope & promise that was, looking back! Heck, I just ordered another bottle!
You are blazing a trail, in INCREDIBLE ways, with PLUVICTO, Steve55777!
Your story instills newfound hope for all readers here, beyond words!
Can't wait to see the power of that next PLUVICTO treatment! My jaw literally drops when I read the impact it has had in your case.
Standing alongside you, as you forge ahead!
Fellowship, handshake, camaraderie ~
