OT: Relief

A couple of months ago, at the end of August, I had my first attack of diverticulitis. No fun at all. As part of the workup then, I had a CT scan that included an ominous comment: Patient has an unidentified liver lesion, recommend MRI for diagnosis.

That's scary. Potentially really scary. So, for the last 3 months, while I was waiting for the MRI appointment I've had some level of hair on fire about it.

So, the MRI was last Monday, the results posted on mychart today. Everything is dirt normal except for my hiatal hernia (which I've known about forever) and a hemangioma--which is an abnormal bundle of blood vessels in the liver. In other words, it doesn't mean a thing.

Whew.

Good to hear. I find the waiting for test results to sometimes be the toughest part........

Glad it all worked out Hal. Incidental findings tend to often cause a lot of angst, I went thru a similar experience a few months ago, ultrasound of Liver, to check for fatty liver, found an abnormality on gall bladder, and led to ct scan of gallbladder, liver and kidneys, which found 3 kidney cysts, very large, that led to another u,trasound of gall bladder which showed nothing abnormal, was a congenital issue in gallbladder. The large kidney cyst was confirmed by urologist to be a wimp,e cyst which is no big deal, but due to size I have to repeat CT Scan in a year to be sure it isn’t causing obstruction,

I have an appt in a week or so with a gastroenterologist to talk about the diverticulitis, it's mostly behaving itself, as long as I keep pushing the fiber and stay away from super fatty/difficult to digest stuff. (A recent italian sausage/peppers/onions hoagy caused a day of grief). Who needs that kind of thing anyway?

Ken, glad to hear your abnormalities showed no biggie as well. I guess this is the cost of getting older--they keep finding not quite ideal things going on inside us--I guess that justifies the MRI and CT scan machines and all the people who are employed to operate them and interpret the results.

Last colonoscopy showed I have diverticulitis too. Took a deep breath and re - figured our diet (I am the house chef). No onions, garlic, heavy spices, refined carbs, grease or peppers. Lots of healthy oils + fresh vegs/fruits, all whole grains etc etc. No bicarb for a couple of years now, dropped the 16 & 1/2 pounds Xtandi + Eligard gifted me, still loosing weight slowly.

Can’t believe you waited three months for the MRI. Here, it is at most 10 days. Great availability.

Jack, I probably could have gotten it sooner if I'd taken a "first available" rather than "best time that works for me" appointment.
