New to this thread - not here too often these days.
JC, you treatment choice is excellent.
My brief story is DRE by new primary at age 63 recommended seeing urologist. Urologist recommends biopsy. Biopsy grades out at 4+4 - was all down with surgery (get it out). Read more. Sought John Hopkins second opinion on biopsy, graded by them as 4+5, Gleason 9.
Lot's more reading.
Best I could come up with was high probability of radiation required after surgery, so made decision to do triple play. Three months Lupron ([started April 2018] reduced bulk for radiation and lowered PSA), then five weeks radiation, then low dose brachy seeds. Total of 18 months Lupron, ending Oct 2019. PSA test every three months initially, now every six months. Last PSA test was November 2023 with result of 0.04.
I see my medical oncologist once a year. My last radiation oncologist visit was over a year ago when my PSA at that time was (if I recall) 0.08 when he said "there is no saying your 100% cured, but on (his) experience five years out and less than 0.20 PSA is very low risk of recurrence".
Think positive, and take it day by day.
