50th PSA Test Since Diagnosis

Received a call from my urologist this afternoon. He declared this was the 50th PSA he has taken since I became his patient. The great news is another undetectable! Plus, he put me on a one year testing protocol, but we will continue our quarterly meetings on a more social basis.

Thanks, yes, doing well. My doc kept me on quarterly for an extended time due to my high risk diagnosis. His practice keeps a very close watch on their cancer patients. They are very metric driven for practice management improvement purposes.

When I started with him he told me he would watch me very closely due to the risk factors and significant probability of recurrence particularly in the 5-10 year period following diagnosis. We are now past that period so he took me to six month testing a couple of years ago and now annual. One advantage of frequent testing is that it eliminated test anxiety for me as I knew that at most any recurrence would be a matter of weeks of cancer progression rather than as much as a year unnoticed. So it has been no big deal.
