CVC, we get your angst over this whole thing. None of us can really tell you what to do but can make suggestions. My suggestion is this:
1. Yeah, re-take the PSA test. The PSA levels can fluctuate fairly dramatically from month to month (or even day to day). When I was suspecting prostate cancer my PSA rose over a point in a week and then dropped a point a month after. So PSA is indicative but not definitive. Depending whether you proceed with steps 2-4, consider getting quarterly PSA tests to determine a possible trend.
2. Ask to get a free-PSA score as part of the PSA test. That may indicate more or less likelihood of cancer.
3. A sudden rise in PSA is more likely to be an infection. Treat for that first before undergoing any invasive or expensive testing.
4. If the PSA remains high after treating for infection and/or the free-PSA test indicates higher likelihood of cancer then follow the protocols outline in the video by Dr. Scholz that I sent you. That is, multi-parametric MRI that can show suspicious areas. Followed by biopsy if necessary.

Sounds like a plan ! If he suggests a biopsy before anything else if there’s a rise then I will find a tactful way to ask if we can follow this protocol .
And if , God forbid , I do have PC .. everything I’ve read here sounds like removal is a bad option but radiation is a better approach
