PVP Green Light therapy

Has anyone had the 'GreenLight" Laser Therapy ? (PVP...Photo vaporization of the Prostate ) . It's supposed to vaporize part of the prostate making it smaller . Good results ? Complications ? Recovery ? I have done some research online and it might help . Just wanted to see if anyone has had success with it . Thank you . Jack

Thank you , Pratoman . Mine is scheduled for 7 Nov 2024 . Looks like I have to wear a catheter until then. Had so many the past few weeks . Put one in , take it out a few days later , no improvement , in again , out again ...blah , blah , blah . I really hope this procedure works . Getting old sucks ! Again , thanks .

Thanks Glen . They tell me I will have a catheter one day , removed the next . The doctors seem confident the procedure will help . PSA is 12.8 , probably due to my enlarged prostate . Two biopsies , both negative . They say with a smaller prostate , the PSA will be lower . I just want to pee normally , or at least better . Again , thanks for responding . Jack .

I had it in the middle of treatment. After external beam and prior to seeds.
Mine was to remove just a protruding “nub” that was partially blocking the urethra.
Like any other surgical procedure when you’re not awake for it. They all suck.
Catheter was removed the next day, pretty quick recovery and it worked.
It was more of a “haircut” as the radiation and ADT shrunk the overall size way down.

Thanks Fauntleroy . I sure hope it works . The Doctor who is doing the procedure does many of these . Still nervous . I don't have good luck with surgeries . Good to know you had good results . Jack

Thanks Halbert . I am hoping the procedure will reduce the size of my prostate so I can pee without difficulty . So far , biopsies have been negative . I am on Tamsulosin (generic Flomax) but still have trouble . I will update after the procedure . Jack

While not a cancer treatment it might have removed some bad tissue but I'll never know. SBRT seems to have done a good job.
Yes it's a lot like roto rooter but it vaporizes the tissue.
BTW I do remember seeing the green light in the room. It was mildly psychedelic looking.

I had the GreenLight therapy procedure yesterday The doctor said it went well . He said he removed more than 40% of the prostate . I was supposed to have had the catheter removed today , but the doctor decided to wait until Monday . Then I will know if it was successful . I am getting so tired of the catheter . Lots of meds too . Thanks again , guys , for the help and kind words of encouragement . I will let you know more on Monday , Jack

TMI ? I had surgery on 7 November . Upon discharge , I was given several meds including Phenazopyridine . I had the catheter removed today at 830 am . Just had my first good pee since I don't know when . Pee is still kind of orange , but I was told that is due to the Phenazopyridine . A little blood too . I have a follow up on 21 November . Light duty for a few weeks . So far so good . I guess the "GreenLight" therapy works . I'll let you know more after the follow up . Thanks Halbert . I was told no sexual activity for a few weeks . I hope it still works . I am also interested in my PSA level . I was told , because so much of the prostate was removed , the numbers will probably go down .
