This truly is horrible news. Dr. Moran treated me around 6 years ago, so here is my story. After firing my urologist, so to speak, at NWH, I did lots of research and went to his facility. If you hadn't been there, well it was somewhat of sight to behold. I mean this place was frickn nice. Bedsides the facility, what struck me was how nice everyone was. You weren't just a ticket; you were a worried patient and treated as such.
To be honest, I didn't think I would meet with him, thought it would be some other doctor. But I was called into his office, and I came prepared with every printout I could find as I had an MRI, a biopsy, etc. He talked with me for about
30 minutes regarding what he does, etc. Then we shot the crap about
all sorts of things not even related to cancer. After that he said, if you are serious about
this, the first thing we need to do is a volume study. UGH, Sign me up. He said his crew would call my insurance, and that it would be a bit. He then said, since you are 45 minutes away ill have them call now and I can take care of it today to save you a trip if you like.
While I was outside waiting, he came out 30 minutes later to go somewhere and starts talking to me about
the volume study and that if I have a prostate that is the right size, next up would be to send my biopsy to Epstein. I already knew about
Epstein and thought, wow, this guy is thorough. Cause let's face it, he could have left that out and just went with it. He then starts walking over to his car, Porsche, I say nice car and that I have an older one. That started another conversation about
Porsches and that he has had a few. He then says, "I'm heading to pick up lunch, want to ride with me?" I think you get what kind of a person he was by now.
I won't bore you with what took place regarding casodex, ebrt and seeds. But besides his demeanor, how good he was at what he did, I'll never forget what he said when I was at his desk that first day after he finished looking at all the info. I brought. and that was....... "I can cure this, but the next year will be tough." He then went on talking about
percentages at year 5, 10, etc.
Now, that's a pretty crazy thing to say about
Cancer. But here's the thing, this wasn't a sales pitch, this was a guy that had been doing this for so long that he 100% believed he was going to cure me.
It's been over 6 years and well I'm living proof that at this point in my life, I have been cured. Will that hold true later on in life, only time will tell.
RIP Dr, Moran, and thanks.
