A lot of people say get RT; surgery is being needless pushed by UROs.

As a result of ART post surgery, I have some minor cystitis I am receiving HBOT for.

The number of men getting treatment for some pretty bad RT damage to colon and bladder in the wound centers might change some of your opinions.

It seems to be a side effect the ROs aren’t mentioning.

Yeah, I wish I had done the surgery instead of HDR Brachytherapy 10 years ago.
Since then, over the years I have had increasing retention and leakage issues and have to self cath 4xday. Botox to help with nocturia, a couple of surgeries due to constrictions, an attempt at bladder neck widening, etc. And yes, none of the drugs helped me much at all. Now am looking at a sacral nerve stimulator for sometime next year.
Almost 2 years ago started throwing blood clots and underwent HBOT (40 treatments) and so far so good for at least that side effect.
I also have GI problems but it is tough to say how much was due to the radiation and how much from a hiatal hernia I needed repaired (full nissen) the year after my radiation.

Sorry you guys are going through this, dealing with these issues. Everybody's experience is different. I had SRT 3 years after surgery, 6 years ago. So far no issues. I think its important, when deciding on radiation to as a lot of questions about how up to date the equipment and software are, and choosing a well reputed RO/facilityto provide treatmeNT
Not in any way implying you guys didn't do that, anything can happen no matter how careful we are. I'm only trtying to provide some perspective for anyone currently considering treatment.

All treatments have risks, no way around it.

There are no easy treatment choices when trying to.cure cancer. I had SRT after my surgery and IMO the radiation recovery was much more difficult than the surgery. More side effects from the radiation too. This winter I will be heading to the hyperbaric chamber to try to help stop peeing blood. And with any luck that will solve things and I won't have to have a cystoscopy every 3 months.
