I did not know an RP was an option for an enlarged prostate. Maybe he actually has cancer and it’s a ruse to hide it, for whatever reason .

We don't know. It could be he is a G6 on AS and decided that with the chronic problems of BPH and frequent UTIs, a RP was the best solution. Just one of many possibilities.

3. At his age, he probably does have low grade PCa, just like the majority of men his age

Duh.

Political office press releases and "official spokespeople" rarely know anything about medical issues of any kind, so taking what they say about treatment plans or diagnoses as in the first report--at least 3rd hand if not further--and getting upset and questioning it and calling people liars--says more about the commenter than about the situation.

75 is a little old for prostatectomy. I thought to rule used to be not to do it on a man over 70. His overall health must be good enough that doctors consider him a good risk for a full recovery.

I asked my uro/surgeon this question and he said that with modern anesthesiology, that's no longer the case. It's rather general health, life expectancy, and the specifics of the case, but he, for one, has performed RPs for men in their 80's.

No one knows how chronic his issues were or what the details have been in his later years. I think back to Gen Lloyd Austin as the other way to handle the situation.

In the end, there is no 'right way' for a politician to have a medical issue. If he makes the effort to be fully transparent, then people will nit-pick his decision to have whatever treatment he is having, and argue about whether it is the right or wrong thing to do--when the only people who really know what is happening is the person and his doctor. If he does the other thing and just vanishes for a while and announces after the fact what happened, then he's in trouble for not being open and honest about the situation.

So, what is the right choice?

At his age, he probably does. Most men of a certain age do, as we know. Also, most men are loath to publish their medical situation to even their closest friends, never mind the rest of the world, as we know as well.

i will say when you have a president facing corruption charges everything he does and says will be questioned by most people
