Whitney, I certainly understand your fear of losing your father. It sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with him. What I can say is that I have now been a stage four for 12 years after being diagnosed with mets to my spine and ribs. And that there is new treatment for stage 4 prostate cancer, and more is emerging as we speak. So, your fear is very normal and as your father looks at available treatments, hopefully your fears will abate. Wishing your Dad many more years and memories with you and his family.

Some important questions:
How old is he? What was his initial treatment? Where is he being treated?
I'm assuming you're in the US--if not please share where you are. He needs to be at a center of excellence, and there are these
locations most everywhere. Google NCCN Centers of Excellence, and find one near you.
If he has a spot on his pelvis, that is completely treatable. I'm not going to sugar coat it, he is probably in a situation where he will be dealing with this for the rest of his life. That being said, the rest of his life is very possibly measured in years--10 or more is not out of the question. There is a decent chance your children will have their grandpa around for high school and college graduation, and maybe marriage ceremonies.
The important thing is get him to a top end cancer center, and connected with the prostate team there.
