A long-standing friend of my wife's in England was diagnosed with PCa a few years ago. He was initially treated with brachytherapy and subsequent salvage radiation and is currently on ADT.
His issue is that he needs to urinate 6 or more times each night and is badly sleep deprived. He had what my wife described to me as a Rotor Rooter job which I assume means TURP, which hasn't helped.
My wife asked me what I think. But my own experience is not parallel. Unlike him, my prostate was removed at the get-go, though I have also had salvage radiation and am on ADT. My experience, which I think is more typical, is a need to get up once or sometimes twice in the night - but never 6 or more times, night after night, like him.
He is under treatment of an oncologist, but not a urologist. My wife has told him he needs to see a urologist. He says he will ask his oncologist for a referral at his appointment next week. I know the UK health system is different than ours in the US. Both are badly screwed up in their own individual ways.
I assume we here will agree there is an obvious need to be seen by a urologist. But my question is, has anyone had similar unremitting need to get up so many times every night - excluding just short-term in the immediate wake of treatment? And if his various treatments have done permanent damage is there a likely treatment?
