I'm right between 3 and 4 weeks post surgery. A couple of observations:
1. In retrospect I think my "drier" days post-surgery were due to not drinking enough fluids. With an increased emphasis on drinking more, I find I'm leaking more. At the time I didn't know this and had an unrealistic assessment of how my continence was coming along.
2. At 23 days post surgery I seemed to turn a corner, energy-wise. Energy was higher and more sustained all day and into the evening and I didn't need to nap on day 23 or 24. Not that there's anything wrong with it. (going to nap today though)
3. I think at 3+ weeks after surgery we've all experienced some good days and some better days. Those better days give us hope and make us wonder if we've turned some kind of a corner, continence-wise. Then, as we(I) get more active because we're feeling better, we might tend to overdo just a little bit. So we experience a setback and wonder what happened. Why me Lord? This is where the disappointment and wondering show up.
4. As I near the end of my short term disability I can't help but look forward with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension at my upcoming return to work. Yeah, it will be great to have my mind occupied again and be busy earning a living. But now I also worry "what if I'm one of those guys who doesn't dry up until 10 weeks? Or 6 months?" Stressful.
5. Today when I contemplate my increased leaking I am only too aware of how many times I've read questions on this topic and all the excellent counsel from this board. I think "There's nothing new about what's going on with me here. Walking and kegels, walking and kegels. That's what I've got to do."
Later.
