numb tongue

   Had prostate removed 2-12-09..DaVinche..8 days later the tip of my tongue is still numb...This happen to anyone else?                   Thanks

Welcome here #56, glad you found us, and glad you are on the other side of your surgery. Haven't heard of the numb toungue before, hopefully someone else here has.

??? It was numb to start with...you said after 8 days it was still numb? Wonder what caused it to be numb in the first place. I know that they stuff tubes down you, but haven't heard of them giving anything that would last that long. Have you spoken to your doctor yet?

I haven't heard of that before. Perhaps as was mentioned the tubes during the op did something to a couple of the nerves in your tongue. I sure would raise the matter with my doc though. During the op you're tilted for a few hours, feet up, head down which tends to make people dizzy after a while.....perhaps another little rare side effect?

Had DaVinci 1-9-09 56 and no numb tongue for me. But I can tell you that my father had a benign tumor removed from under his collar bone a few years ago. The pathology report stated it was a nerve bundle. He has had a droopy right eyelid every day since he left the hospital. I guess random nerve pathways can go any direction. I hope your numbness goes away soon.

Havn't talked to Dr. yet, go back to him in 6 days for cath. removal. Glad when that is out..Although it is nice not getting up in the middle of the night to piss. After cath. is out, sounds like a whole new adventure begins...

I do believe that any surgery can have some occasional strange side effects. In my case after the surgery my left heel was so tender that I could barely put any weight on it .
One morning the pain was gone.
