David, I'll be hoping the best for you. I hope those pain meds give you some rest.

Hate taking them, but only take it at night, when I am certain I don't have to drive or do anything serious, takes about an hour to get some relief, then it comes as a relief, and knocks out all of the pain for about 2-3 hours, does help. Be glad when its known what the deal is.

I know the waiting is the worse.  I hope you hear good news today you certainly could use some.  With your PSA so low it would be unusal for something to show on the scan.  My PSA is much higher and nothing has been seen so far.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

1 PM Wednesday, still not a word on the bone scan, you would think if it were all clear, would have heard something by now. I will call in the morning in case its just been sitting on a stack of papers somewhere. usually i have prompt return on tests. when i did the ivp kidney tests, had the results from my doctor the same day. been 2 1/2 days now.

I would interpret it just the opposite...........no news is good news. If it showed something questionable, then I would think they would have been on the horn pronto........if it's clear, you may not be on the front burner for notification.

I understand the frustration in waiting and trying to think positive is not as easy as everyone else saying it.....but, stay positive! maybe its taking longer because it is all negative and so not a priority to them to get that information to you as it would have been if they had found something on it...

monitoring closly this thread to hear your results.

they were wanting to compare it to the full scan done in 2008 after my pc dx, and that scan is located at another facility about 10 miles from here, that might be the delay now that i think about it.

This is a bunch of CRAP that you have to go through.

Well, if it was them sitting on pins and needles, stuff wouldn't get lost or delayed as much or maybe never. Same goes for a lot of things "they say" won't hurt, or when they dismiss your concerns out of hand, only later to find out you had reason to be concerned. If only we could be our own doctors! BOH, when I try to diagonose myself, then I realize that I have to put up with all my little *****y concerns. That said, I mean we already have cancer and we are, for good reason, are very concerned about that getting worse. David, hang in there and in the fullness for time,........

Well its about 5, guess no answer today, if not by the time I get home from physical therapy tommorow, I will call. My doctor's office is very effecient, they must not have full results yet after nearly 3 days, which I find odd, when everyone involved is within about a 2 block radius of one another.

Sometimes many docs and particularly their staff can be a real pain with their blase attitudes. We are in the driver's seat , so to speak, and our problems basically are only work issues to them. I have read of many doctors and health professionals whose attitude to patients with serious illness changes profoundly when they themselves are diagnosed with something life threatening. Until you have been in the position of waiting for results that are extremely important to your future you cannot appreciate the angst that waiting for those results can bring. Then again, for the sake of sanity, they cannot take everybody's problems home with them.

Excellent point, BillyMac. I made the same point to my uro after he ordered some additional x-rays of my ribs and it took a week for me to find out why. I told him in the future, if it's bad news, I'd like to know right away, rather than wait for a scheduled appointment to find out. And, if it's good news, a call saying that everything looks OK and I'll see you when you come in for your appointment next week would be nice. He had put me through a week of needless worry, all of which could have been avoided with a 30-second phone call.

Good luck on this, David. I can't imagine the worry this has caused.

billy, in this case, i doubt the delay is directly related to my doctor, he's extremely empathetic and caring at all times. The tests were done at my local hospital, not the one I usually go to for all my surgeries. They can be slackers at that particular facility
