Was never a fan of his but good for him for coming out so strongly on this issue.

Wonder what evidence he has to suggest that these recommendations are going to get canned.

Clinicians have no reason to follow the USPSTF guidelines. But I disagree with Forbes on that one. Do you remember the recommendation issued a couple years ago by the USPSTF on breast cancer screening? It was never pulled down by the USPSTF. Organizations like the ACS, SGK, and others issued very strong statements against the recommendation and doc's basically ignored it. That's what we can hope for. Unfortunately, the ACS is not on board with putting up the same effort for the guys as they did the girls.

Also, I saw this yesterday. I didn't post it because of the political issues with this article. Whether Forbes is right or not about the "death panel" accusations, it is off topic here to encourage debate about it. I encourage us to avoid that debate...

Tony, I fully understand and subscribe to the rules about avoiding political comments here on HW.  The only thing that occurs to me is that it's often difficult to discuss health issues as if they exist in a vacuum. 

I can see why these are the rules, and I can understand the mayhem that can ensue, but most thoughtful discussions of men's health would certainly include areas we can't talk about here.

I guess that's just a "cost of doing business" in trying to converse on the wild, wild Web.

Yeah, I'm not interested in discussing the political side of it. Didn't post it for that. I'm just pleasantly surprised by how outspoken he is about it, and I would like to know why he believes these recommendations won't go anywhere. I haven't seen any evidence of that.

Clock I agree with you.

But all one has to do is look at the mean, nasty commentary available in other forums and the comments to news articles to see the possible effects. People are a lot braver to state things behind a keyboard that they would not state elsewhere...

I have my own opinions about this but I am in the wrong forum to express them. I have in the past and all I made were more enemies. By leaving that commentary out I have mostly friends here.

The rule is a good one...
