My Oncologist let me take a holiday from Lupron after I was successful in maintaining a <0.05 PSA and a T level of <40 for 24 months. I have enjoyed that holiday for over 5 1/2 years. Not surprisingly, due to my original stats at the beginning of this journey and due to the latest PSA test, I am about
to restart Lupron in a couple of weeks. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'll go with the program again and hopefully my levels will return to their previous low levels. Maybe in a couple of years, I will get another vacation.
I would NEVER take it on my own to quit a working program because I was uncomfortable, especially knowing that I had bone mets. I'll take a lowered energy level, hot flushes, or whatever that comes along with Lupron, than experience developing cancer in my bones, and who knows where else. Pain is not one of my "feel good" goals in life.
