Hormone holiday ????

I decided To take a break from my ADt injection which was due on 5th November 2011.It's now been two months since my injection was due,as I'm fairly young 45 yrs I expected my T levels to recover quickly and start to feel human again.Unfortunatly I actually feel worse than I did before ?.Can anyone explain this? will I suddenly start to feel well again ? I.e energy and less hot flashes Ect ....I had 12 months of zoladex injections.

Thanks for that reply Todd,no I didn't tell the doc I was having a holiday.I felt great until I started ADt and although I've bone mets I decided that I want to feel how I used to once more.12 months of zoladex as completely changed me and I would not touch the stuff second time around !I've decided to come off meds n monitor my PSA doubling times.I've always wondered how many years would I have lived without knowing of this desease in my body?maybe mine would have had slow progression,maybe not........just wish most days I'd never found out.PSA got down to 2.5 at lowest after 12 months so I'm just gona crunch the numbers for a while n hope it stays low without the meds........yeah I know wishful thinking lol

doesn't sound like a holiday leeangelo!  i'd be really careful because of your advanced condition you may not get the results you desire.  at any rate you're talking about it, though you should be talking to the doctor too.  very best to you!

My Oncologist let me take a holiday from Lupron after I was successful in maintaining a <0.05 PSA and a T level of <40 for 24 months.  I have enjoyed that holiday for over 5 1/2 years.  Not surprisingly, due to my original stats at the beginning of this journey and due to the latest PSA test, I am about to restart Lupron in a couple of weeks.  I'm not looking forward to it, but I'll go with the program again and hopefully my levels will return to their previous low levels.  Maybe in a couple of years, I will get another vacation. 

I would NEVER take it on my own to quit a working program because I was uncomfortable, especially knowing that I had bone mets.  I'll take a lowered energy level, hot flushes, or whatever that comes along with Lupron, than experience developing cancer in my bones, and who knows where else.  Pain is not one of my "feel good" goals in life.
