I'm alive today because of PSA screening...and an update.....

Not much of a regular poster these days....just passed the SIX YEAR MARK with a clean PSA check up -- I even get to go to annual checkups(as oppsed to six months).   I am CONVINCED I would not be here today at age 52 if I hadn't had a good GP run a PSA on me at 45....it came back at 28...then shot up to 39 before I had my surgery....LOTS of cancer, positive margin, post surgery recurrence....but we appeared to have gotten it in time (knock on wood!).

RP, RT and HT later, I've been clean since my last treatment ended 5 1/2 years ago.  Praise the Lord....and the PSA test.

THanks James.....actually, I'm EQUAL to .10....have been for 4 years.....just a weird thing that can happen. As long as it doesn't move, I'm OK. And it hasn't. My personal theory is there is a little bit of prostate tissue left behind that generates just enough PSA to show up. A bit un-nerving, but since it's been stable, fine by me....and my oncologist.....

sterd, yours is a great report and testimony by any standard. i am most happy that you are doing so well 6 years out, that should give hope and inspiration to others reading this. i wish you many more years ahead like thise.
