Met with the medical oncologist and he decided that the two extra cycles of taxotere would be too hard on Mr. Worry, and he said the data is just not there to support the benefit to him at this time.

He also mentioned holding off on Zytiga as originally planned. He said something about a clinical trial coming up and being on Zytiga would eliminate him from the trial. I should have asked which trial, but I failed to. It sort of sounded like it was a trial that included Zytiga with something else, and prior use would eliminate.

Anyway, Mr. Worry is remaining under the watch of the radiation oncologist until further notice. They are also placing him on long term disability. Not too sure how that will work out, but we'll figure it out along the way.

They want to wait to re-image him since he just had so much radiation. 80gy total... not sure how much additional was to his breast, but they nipped that in the bud. (no pun intended :))

Side effects still remaining are extreme fatigue, focusing issues, and trouble urinating... with 2-3 nightly trips. Flomax seems to be helping a bit.

Other than that, we're going to learn how to smile a little bit more and move this beast to the back burner until a PSA result calls it back up front. :)

I am so glad to hear from you. I understand about the fatigue and brain fog, your hubby needs his rest now. Smiling and shoving it to the back burner isn't easy but I know you can. May the PSA stay small.

Sorry to hear of the radiation side effects ---- it seems to be a fairly common problem with most who have it. Difficult as it sometimes is, putting the PSA back there for a while lets you concentrate on the important things (family etc.)
Now that the radiation is complete here's to an upswing in Mr WW's well-being.

Ms W W, sorry to hear about your husband's side effects.  It would be great if a trial came up that would be perfect for him and help win the battle against this monster.  Wishing you both the best!

thanks for the update, been wondering how mr. worry has been feeling. sounds like he's in very good hands with his doctor. my best to both of you, and hopefully some of the more serious side effects will begin to subside over time in the weeks and months ahead.

Which clinical trial are they thinking about? If they want to hold off that's reasonable but I would ask in detail what the plan is...

Yes, I am disappointed in myself for not inquiring more about that.

I think when they mentioned the long term disability my mind sort of got stuck there with all the implications that go along with me.

I have been trying to search for some that include abiraterone, but I keep coming up empty. Perhaps they are waiting for bone mets to show up or radiation to fail, because all I can find would be dealing with one of those two issues.

It was one of those moments when I was not prepared and/or became speechless... which is a rare thing for anyone that knows me. :)

I hope Mr. Worry's SE subside soon. 80 Gy is a big dose. But, maybe that much radiation will knock the cancer down, hard! Best thoughts and wishes coming your way.

Sonny, Pat,and I are so thinking about you guys. Keep your heads up and I really like the idea of moving this stuff to the back burner and smiling a bit more.

Totally understandable about being surprised at the appointment. Take the short break you need. Once you are rested, I am sure the Dr. will not mind you giving a call to inquire about the plan.Does the Dr. mind if you record your meetings? When I was considering MDA, I had no objections to all of the meetings being recorded. I am hoping these side effects mean the treatment is working and there are better days ahead for you guys.

And yes, we will take time to find things to smile HUGE for a while.

Startech, MDA is excellent about allowing us to tape all appointment discussions. I need to revisit the recording to see what I missed... but, I'll save that task for a rainy day. :)
